A little bit about me

My experience in childcare goes back 10 years, with my most recent experience being the nanny to a now 13 month old baby and his 3 year old sister. Prior to this I was a regular babysitter to a 2 year old boy, and was employed at a local daycare in my hometown of Lexington, KY. All of this experience has made me into a well-rounded and trusted childcare provider. My skills include maintaining a proper feeding and nap schedule based on age, assisting with hitting developmental milestones, creating a loving and safe environment, changing diapers, light housework, and of course ensuring that I am up to date with all safety and first aid procedures for infants and children. I am looking to be welcomed into another home as a full-time nanny in the Denver, CO area for late July or early August. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was an employee at a daycare in Lexington, KY for 3+ years. Part of this I was a full-time lead teacher for an 8-12 month old classroom. I worked with all ages, however the bulk of my experience is with 18 months and younger. With this, I gained extensive first aid training and skills, such as maintaining a nap/feeding schedule, changing diapers, creating arts/crafts, and engaging students with books, songs, etc.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading books, teaching/singing songs, dancing, teaching yoga poses (my favorite hobby!), going on walks/to the park, playing outside, painting/coloring, cooking/making snacks together, cleaning up, puzzles, and of course watching Disney movies!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to gain the trust and confidence of my family. Most importantly, making sure that all children in my care feel loved and safe everyday. This allows me to become part of a family, and is by far the most rewarding part about being a nanny! This is one of the many reasons I love being in childcare.

The most important part about being a nanny...

While this isn't a funny story, it was still a wonderful learning experience for me. I was sitting overnight for my current family while they were out of town, and I ended up having to take the baby (11 months at the time) to Urgent Treatment because of a high-grade fever. Of course, as soon as we got back to see the doctor, he had no temperature. I had rushed out of the house with both kids, then had to run back home to get the paperwork that allowed me to take the baby to the doctor, all the while making sure the kids were safe, entertained, and happy. Needless to say, it was chaotic few hours. The baby ended up being fine and it was just a respiratory infection. Building trust and familiarity is one of the most important things to me, as a nanny, and this moment showed that I had successfully done with my current family!
