A little bit about me

Hi there! I am a 22 year old recent college graduate who has a ton of love and experience working with children through long term nannying, church events and in special needs programs at my school. My schedule is incredibly flexible, and I have no age preference. I was a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I received my BFA in Fibers and Printmaking. I am the oldest of four kids and come from a huge family of cousins, all of whom I have grown up taking care of. Because I have always been around young children, I have learned ways throughout the years on how to care for them really well, while also providing a creative outlet. The past few summers in Texas I was a nanny for 3 great kids, one of whom has Down syndrome. I am permanently staying in Savannah however, so am looking for a full time job here now! I would love to help out anyone as much as I can!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at Aqua-Tots swim schools, previously as an instructor, but currently as a cleaner due to Covid. I volunteer every year with a summer program that is a sleepaway camp for previously abused foster kids, and I also have babysat for family and church members for years whenever they needed. I am also part of another program called fortress which gives children access to food, education, and many fun experiences. During the beginning of 2020, I was a nanny for an 18 month old, but Covid allowed his parents to be home, so I began as a summer nanny for 3 children, and I have watched them ever since! While finishing school, I have also watched two toddlers every weekend for the past 2 years in Savannah, and continue to sit for them whenever available.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing board games, doing art projects, baking, building forts, going on bike rides and so many more hands-on activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important thing when working with kids is to keep their sense of childhood in mind. There are so many experiences I wish I had been able to do as a kid, and I really think facilitating a healthy environment where kids can learn and grow happily is the most important thing.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a younger sister with autism who I have helped take care of her whole life, and I also volunteered with a program at my school caring for and hanging out with special needs kiddos. The past two years I have also been a full time nanny for a 12 year old with down syndrome. She was such a blessing to get to watch, and I especially loved helping her get on a schedule and stick to it, because routine is so important!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments ever happened right before quarantine when it was cold and rainy out. I was watching 3 young girls, and since we couldn't go outside, we had our very own "campout" in their living room. We made microwave s'mores, and built a mega fort, and then we told stories and watched movies all bundled up under the fort. It was such a memorable moment full of pure joy, that I am likely to never forget. Another moment was towards the end of my last summer with 3 kiddos I nannied for, it was my birthday and I had no idea they knew. I walked in that morning just like any other day and the kiddos had decorated and made me a cake. It was the sweetest gesture and showed how important they are to me!

Jniyah O. - Seeking Work in Savannah

Part-Time Nanny Available in Savannah, GA: Jniyah O.

Hi I’m Jniyah, I have 4 younger siblings. I took early childhood education in high school and I also participated in JROTC. I graduated with honors and as the battalion commander of my school. I love kids, which is why one day I plan on opening up my own daycare. I don’t believe in mislead children. I believe every kid needs someone in their lives that will listen and try to understand them. After I retire out of the military I do plan on becoming a JROTC instructor to help guide the youth, and show them that someone cares for them.
