A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Ella Grace and I'm 18 years old. I live in Lubbock, Tx at the moment but I am attending Clemson University in the Fall in the school of nursing. I hope to one day become a NICU nurse:) I am a senior at All Saints Episcopal School and I graduate in May and I am looking to move immediately after to South Carolina and sustain myself through the summer until school begins in August. I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old for neighbors and now I babysit/nanny for several families with ages ranging from 6 months to 11 years old and 1 to 3 children at a time along with pets. I am looking to work in a live in situation for the summer. I can cook, clean, do laundry, drive, and do pretty much anything that would be asked of me- i of course including watching and playing with children! I have a love for kids and find it a great privilege to be able to have fun with them and watch them grow over the years:)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

When I was in third grade my mom had 2 bone marrow transplants and was in the hospital for several months. My dad works as an ER doctor so his hours were always random and in the night sometimes. I have an older and a younger brother and during this time I put it upon myself in the mornings before school to make our lunches, make sure everyone was up, and take care/feed the dogs before our babysitter would drive us to school. Because of this experience and growing up in a situation like this, I feel I matured quicker than most and have been responsible and taking care of myself and others dependent on me for a long time.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I don't like sitting and watching tv with them (unless they're sick or tired and need to). I love to color, go for walks in the park, take them swimming, playing with their toys, and playing dress up with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the first priority is to keep them safe, its very important to be watchful of them and to be able to say "no" to activities they want to do that could lead in someone getting hurt. Its also important to just fill in where mom and dad are to make life when you're with them versus when mom and dad are with them the same and continue the routine and schedule of their normal day-to-day life. I also think its really important to have fun with the children and develop a loving relationship. I remember when I was young and we had nanny that I loved and I was so excited every time she would come over, and I also remember having bad babysitters that were not fun and how I did not enjoy their time with us. I strive to be the fun nanny that follows parents' instructions while still getting smiles and laughs out of the kids:)

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have an experience with special needs children yet, but it is something I would be very comfortable getting to learn. I am also Red Cross CPR and lifeguard certified.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The kids from one family I nanny/babysit for loved to come watch me play basketball when I played it in high school and it was so cute watching them cheer and come give me a big hug after.
