A little bit about me

My name is Ella Haydock, and I’m 19 years old, turning 20 in July. I started volunteering in my church’s childcare rooms in 2022 and absolutely loved it. I volunteered there until 2024, when my schedule became busier on Sundays. I currently work in the daycare at JustLift Gym, where I care for children ranging from infants to around 10 years old. Through both my volunteer and work experience, I’ve worked with many children with special needs and have been told I connect with them very well. I’m also the oldest sibling in my family, so caring for children has always been a big part of my life. I also grew up with 3 younger siblings, which gave me a lot of hands-on experience helping care for kids and babies from a young age. I genuinely enjoy working with kids and creating a safe, positive, and caring environment for them. I know how important it is for parents to feel comfortable with who is caring for their children, and I always do my best to be someone they can trust.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing a variety of activities with children. I love coloring and doing creative crafts with them in the daycare. I also enjoy being active and playing sports such as basketball, soccer, and volleyball. I’m always open to participating in any activities the children are interested in, and I like to support their creativity, interests.

The most important part about being a nanny...

making sure children feel safe and comfortable, especially when they’re away from their parents/guardian. It’s important to build trust so they feel supported and cared for. The most important things are safety, making sure kids are in good hands, and feeling happy, calm, safe.

My experience with special needs children...

Through volunteering at my church and working in daycare, I’ve had experience caring for children with autism. Although I don’t have formal certifications, I’ve been told I connect very well with children who may need extra patience, comfort, and support. I stay calm in overwhelming situations and focus on helping children feel safe and understood while creating a positive environment for them. I’ve had experiences where a child was having a difficult time, and after spending time with them in a calmer setting, and having patience with them, they were able to regulate and feel more at ease.
