It’s important to have a trustworthy connection between the parents and the children. The children should feel safe when they are with me and the parents should feel worry free when they are away. I am in your home and with your children, there has to be a high level of trust and a strong relationship with good communication.
My experience with special needs children...
During my time as a gymnastics coach I had some children in my class that had special needs and the most important thing was to be aware of what the children were focusing on learning which was every day social skills and working in a circuit. I was able to take this knowledge and my psychology degree to work at a nonprofit that had an after school program for children with autism which allowed them to play and interact in a safe space.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I favorite moment was my time as a coach when a four year old in my class had told me that I she had done cartwheels with all her friends at school recess. The pure joy and her face and feeling of accomplishment was such a warm and heartfelt moment for me.
