The most important part about being a nanny isn’t just keeping kids safe or sticking to routines it’s showing up every day as a steady, caring presence in their little world.
It’s about the small things: remembering their favorite stuffed animal’s name, knowing exactly how they like their sandwich cut, and being there for the big emotions they don’t always have words for yet.
You’re not just supervising you’re helping shape their sense of security, curiosity, and confidence. Whether it's tying a shoe for the hundredth time or listening to a five-minute story that only half makes sense, those moments matter.
Being a nanny means holding space for a child to grow, mess up, and be completely themselves and loving them through it all.

One rainy afternoon, I was stuck inside with the two kids I nanny both full of energy and bouncing off the walls. I pulled out a bedsheet, strung it between chairs, and we made a living room “castle.” We each had roles: one was the brave knight, the other a dragon, and I was the royal chef making pretend pancakes out of couch cushions.
At some point, one of them turned to me and said, “This is the best day ever.” It wasn’t a big outing or a special event just a rainy day, a bedsheet, and our imaginations.
It reminded me that kids don’t need grand plans; they just need someone who sees the magic with them. That moment stuck with me, and it’s still my favorite.
