Trust! I want the parents to be able to trust me and my abilities and my intentions as their nanny, I want the child to be able to trust me and be able to be comfortable with me taking care of them and being with them so often, and I want to be able to trust the family and the environment that I am working in! Relationship building and trust is so key to a good nanny/family dynamic!
My experience with special needs children...
I have no direct experience with special needs children as the primary children under my care. However, as a part of my B.S. internship I have been developing a program for special needs children inclusion childcare. I have done extensive research on special needs children, and I have worked with them in different childcare settings in the past, I just do not have one on one specialized care experience.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I made a bucket list with the 9 & 10 year old I nannied for a summer and it was an extremely memorable experience for them and they looked forward to doing something new every day! I also just love the every day experiences of being with a child daily, watching them learn and try new things.
