The most important part about being a nanny is building trust and creating a safe, loving environment where children feel comfortable, supported, and cared for. Kids need someone who is dependable, patient, and kind—someone who can help them learn, grow, and have fun while also keeping them safe. I believe it’s also important to communicate well with parents and be someone they can count on to care for their children as if they were my own family.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve had the opportunity to work with children with special needs through my Teacher Academy program, where I learned how to be patient, understanding, and adaptable to different learning and behavioral needs. I’ve helped support students with autism and other developmental differences by assisting them with tasks, offering encouragement, and using clear communication. This experience taught me how important it is to create a calm, supportive environment where every child feels safe and included.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments was during a Sunday at church when I was helping a little boy who was really shy and didn’t want to join the group activity. I sat with him, talked to him gently, and invited him to help me pass out crayons. Little by little, he opened up and started smiling and joining in. By the end of the lesson, he was laughing and playing with the other kids. It felt really special to know that I helped him feel comfortable and included. That moment reminded me how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in a child’s day.
