More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I taught English abroad for 1 year to children ages 3-14. I cared for an 8-10 month old boy as a temporary position prior to the family moving out of state for the summer. I have experience caring for a child with mild intellectual disabilities and a young man with dupe15q syndrome.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
The last kids I nannied for loved to go on walks, jump on the trampoline, make forts, play hide and seek, pretend play, nerf gun fights, medieval sword fights with cooking spoons, sold lemonade, and the youngest was especially fond of making slime! With the 8 month old baby we would go on walks in the stroller and play with toys on a blanket outside all day. They kept me very busy!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Connecting with the kids is very important to me. Respecting them makes it a whole lot easier for them to respect you back. Communication is key. Patience is a big must. But more than anything I strive to be an example to the kids I nanny for. I want to be a positive influence in their lives. And I want them to know that they can do anything they put their mind to. More than anything their overall safety and happiness is my priority. My goal is to create an environment where they feel comfortable and excited to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
My experience with special needs children...
The youngest child of my last family had a learning disability. Every day we would work on physical therapy, eye therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy exercises. I also had experience caring for a young man that had dup15q syndrome.

There are so many wonderful moments it’s hard to decide on one! So I will tell you a few! One that stands out to me is the time we decided we wanted to be secret agents! We took string and strung it throughout the house around door knobs and handles, pulled it tight, and pretended the string was laser. We spent the afternoon weaving through the string trying not to touch it just like a secret agent would. Another wonderful memory is the time all three kids helped me make a massive fort out of couch cushions and blankets! We broke out the Christmas lights and lit up the whole inside of our fort, layed down pillows, made popcorn, played ukulele, sang songs, and told stories! That memory is very special to me! I was with this family for 5 years so I had a lot of time to see them grow into the wonderful little humans they are today. I love those kids:) It was very hard to leave them. But we still keep in touch and I still visit!
