Hi! My name is Emily, I’m 26 years old and work full-time in Human Resources, focusing on employee relations, performance management, and DEI initiatives. I have a BA in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and have always loved working with kids.

I’ve worked at a preschool, spent several summers as a YMCA camp counselor, and babysat for family friends and my younger siblings. I also volunteer with the National Stuttering Association’s We Stutter at Work committee, which has strengthened my empathy and communication skills.

Outdoors, I enjoy going on walks, playing sports or playground games, doing scavenger hunts, and spending time in nature. I like keeping kids engaged in ways that are both fun and enriching.

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment where kids feel comfortable to be themselves. I believe in building trust not only with the children but also with the family, and making sure parents know their kids are being cared for with patience, kindness, and consistency. For me, it’s about helping kids learn, grow, and feel valued every day.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience supporting children with a variety of needs. My cousin is on the autism spectrum, and throughout my life I’ve gained understanding and patience through that close relationship. I also grew up with a mild stutter and have ADHD myself, which has given me empathy and perspective in working with children who may face unique challenges. In addition, several of the kids I cared for during my time working at preschools, after-school programs, and summer camps had special needs, so I’m comfortable providing individualized attention and adapting activities to meet each child where they are.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments has been watching kids I cared for in my preschool class grow up. A few of them I later babysat when I was home from college, and it was so special to see how much they had grown and to keep being part of their lives. Building that long-term connection and watching their personalities develop over the years is something I’ll always treasure.
