A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Emily, an experienced educator with 21 years of teaching experience working with children of all ages and learning styles. Along with my classroom experience, I have also worked as a nanny and tutor, giving me a strong background in supporting children both academically and emotionally in a caring, structured environment. I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education as well as Montessori certification, and I love creating engaging, child-centered experiences that help children feel safe, confident, and supported.

As a mom of two teenagers, I understand the importance of patience, communication, and building strong relationships with families. I’m currently looking for summer work where I can provide dependable, nurturing care while helping children learn, grow, and have fun.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Hi! My name is Emily, and I am a first grade teacher with Saginaw Public Schools with 21 years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I have taught a variety of grade levels from Pre-K through fifth grade in Michigan and North Carolina, including teaching in Ontonagon schools. I also have experience working as a nanny and online tutor, helping students strengthen their math and reading skills in both one-on-one and small group settings.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing hands-on, creative activities with children that make learning fun and engaging. Some of my favorite activities include reading stories together, arts and crafts, outdoor play, educational games, beginner science activities, and helping children build confidence in reading and math through fun learning experiences. I also enjoy sensory activities, imaginative play, nature walks, and Montessori-inspired activities that encourage independence, creativity, and curiosity.

I love creating a balance between structured activities and free play so children feel supported, active, and excited throughout the day. Because of my teaching background, I am also comfortable helping with homework, summer learning, and creating age-appropriate activities tailored to each child’s interests and needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and trustworthy environment where children feel supported and cared for. Building strong relationships with both the children and their family is very important to me because consistency, communication, and patience help children feel secure and confident.

I also think a great nanny helps children grow emotionally, socially, and academically through positive encouragement, engaging activities, and dependable routines. My goal is always to make children feel valued, understood, and excited to learn and explore the world around them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments is seeing a child gain confidence in themselves. I love watching children become excited when they finally understand something they were struggling with, whether it is reading a new word, solving a math problem, or trying something independently for the first time.

I also enjoy the everyday moments — reading stories together, hearing children’s funny conversations and imagination, doing crafts, playing outside, and building strong relationships where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn and grow. Those small moments are what make working with children so rewarding to me.

Julia H. - Seeking Work in Midland

Babysitter Available in Midland, MI: Julia H.

I am a responsible, caring, and dependable individual with a genuine love for working with children. I have grown up surrounded by babies and young children, as many of my cousins are significantly younger than me. From an early age, I have been actively involved in helping care for them—assisting with feeding, changing, playing, and creating a safe and nurturing environment.

These experiences have helped me develop strong patience, attentiveness, and the ability to understand children’s needs at different stages of development. I am comfortable managing daily routines, keeping children engaged through age-appropriate activities, and ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

I take pride in being reliable, organized, and trustworthy, and I always strive to create a positive, supportive atmosphere where children feel comfortable and cared for. I would be honored to bring this same level of care and dedication to your family.
