A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Emily Turner and I am just graduated high school as a member of the class of 2020. I am moving from the Omaha area to Topeka with plans to attend Washburn in the fall of 2021. I love kids and have been babysitting since I was 10. I have nannied for 3 families throughout my time and have had phenomenal experiences with both. Although I may be young as I am only 17 and turning 18 in October 2020, I have grown up aspiring to be the best that I can be and have lived all over the world which has given me an unique look on life. I am going to be going to school to follow in my mother’s footsteps to become a social worker. I am CPR certified and am hoping to be a great inclusion to your family! I have a valid driver’s license and a working car. In the past, I have done meal prep and transported children to destinations for activities and doctors appointments. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have taken classes throughout my schooling that have allowed me to go to day cares and preschools and interact with the kids and lead them in activities and crafts.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking part in crafts and stories with children. I have found that creating things with your hands whether it is baking, painting, experiments, or anything else, the excitement on the child’s face is amazing when they see what they have made with their own hands. I also love playing games such as baseball and biking.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think that the most important part to being a nanny is forming a connection between you and the kids. When the kids enjoy being around you and trust you, it creates a bond that opens up opportunities for both the nanny and kid to grow.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have much experience with special needs children other than watching my cousin who has mild autism. However, I am eager to learn how to best take care of your child along with their special blessings.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment with any of the kids that I have watched was shortly after one family lost their dad and family invited me to go to a drive in movie and I was sitting under the stars with the two oldest next to me, and the oldest girl was telling me stories of her dad. Being under the stars reminded her of him because of their faith. She believed that he was watching over her from a star in the sky.
