More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been a substitute teacher in a preschool with children ages infant to 6. I have also working in childcare at a local nonprofit in which I created curriculum for the children during Nurturing Parenting classes, and then taught children these lessons for 10 weeks. I have additionally mentored in the Clarke County Mentorship Program, and have worked in surrounding counties with the YWCO afterschool program for elementary schools.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to go swimming, and I took swimming lessons for 13 years and feel confident in the water with kids. I love splash pads and water sensory play. I also love outdoor activities such as tag, basketball, pretend play, hide and seek, and any developmental motor activity such as sand pits and balancing activities. Indoors, I love arts and crafts such as vision boards, coloring, homemade play dough, and painting. I love finger painting activities such as creating trees with fingerprints. I additionally love to bake and cook, so safely involving children in this is very fun for me! Lastly, dramatic play is my favorite, such as being astronauts or princesses. I love letting a child’s imagination run wild and experiencing the world they create!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing about being a nanny is having empathy and kindness for the children in your care. It is all about establishing a positive relationship with the children so that they can not only trust you, but feel comfortable in your care when parent(s) are not home. It can be stressful for kids to not be around family! So for me, it is all about allowing the kids to feel comfortable and cared for when I am with them so that they have positive stories to tell their parent(s) about when they come home!
