A little bit about me

Hola! My name is Erianie Colon, or Nani for short, and I am moving to Davie,FL to attend Broward College as an AA Engineering student. I am moving from Tampa, have worked with kids in a daycare and as a PT babysitter to a child with special needs. I am one of 12 kids (a big Latino family), 4 being born in the last 7 years and me having to help raise them. During Covid, I spent 2 years being their FT nanny as my parents were working. I am well in the kitchen and I have a small business as a housekeeper. I am planning on getting my CPR AND FIRST AID CERTIFICATIONS when hired. Would love to be able to drive up to Tampa every 8 weeks (weekends) and be able to attend school early during weekdays.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have many siblings, 4 are less than 7 years old. I did the nanny thing for a while for them, but I am leaving for school. I helped them get ready for school, school drop-off, stayed home with the baby and cleaned/cooked, picked up the kids from school and went to the park, cooked dinner, then got ready for bedtime. If given the opportunity, I would love to be more than just a nanny to your kids, I would be a big sister that truly cares for their future.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like to make easy meals with them, this helps them participate and feel independent.
I walk a lot, so I would take my siblings for walks after meals, we have a dog so he would join us sometimes.
I am artistic and would pull out kid-friendly supplies to create art pieces to hang in their rooms.
I play a lot, whether it is teaching them how to play UNO or tag in the yard, it is important to give them that attention...plus I grew up on toys, I am the middle of two boys, and we grew up with TMNT and G.I.Joes, when my little sisters were born, I finally had someone to play Barbies with!
I am well in my studies, so working on academic skills like reading, counting, writing, and more is all important and doable.
I like to play music and all of us dance crazy, but with rhythm!
I like to sing and try to practice my guitar/piano/ukulele and would practice with them and share my instruments.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Doing what is best for the child, always. Being a positive influence on their life and leading them toward great things. Even if things don't work out, and I don't stay forever, kids remember everything and you never want them to remember you and feel uneasy or sad, it should be sweet and positive. Doing what I can while I am there does more than doing less knowing I am not there to stay.

My experience with special needs children...

Last summer, I worked for a young Indian family in Wesley Chapel with one daughter, Maha, who was 4 years old and was non-verbal. She had slight issues, but overall was a sweetheart and fun to be with. Her parents both worked in IT and were remote, so I would arrive early, start her morning, and the rest of the afternoon was playing, reading, walking, and sometimes successful naps! I had moved to Apollo Beach and left, leaving Maha with a friend I referred them to.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I like when the child shows that they trust you, they let you in on their little quirks that make their character so special, and that is priceless! For me, my siblings grew up with me, I play a vital role in their lives. When I got my first nanny job with Maha, she opened up to me and allowed me to lead her. So, she was no longer hesitant on the idea of me cooking, bathing, or playing with her. That moment when they trust you like you're their sister.

My name is Naliza. I am a 35-year-old professional nanny, with an abundance of experience with infant twins, toddlers, early and school age children. In my career as a nanny (15 years), I have cared for five sets of adorable twins. I am as hard working as they come, very passionate about child care. I have always been one to encourage, stimulate educational and fun-filled indoor and outdoor activities in any environment. I search for daily educated trips, such as: the library, museum, aquarium, zoos, etc.
