A little bit about me

I am a 24 year old African American woman who have been watching children of family and friends since I was 9 years old starting with babies ages 1, toddlers up to ages 6 and now as an adult I have been even been active with children 10 and up as well as teens up to ages 13. I am currently enrolled as a full time student at fort myers technical college in the early childhood education program. I enrolled in this program because I enjoy working with children and assisting them in developing cognitive and sensory skills, as well as helping them learn to communicate emotionally, verbally, and physically. My goal is to own a family home daycare, for children ages 1 to 6. I enjoy cooking nutritional meals for children, observing their interests, engaging in age appropriate developmental activities. I enjoy outdoor activities, which are not much farther than the front or back yard. I do not leave the parents home during the supervision of their child strictly for safety purposes.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently enrolled in fort myers technical college for early childhood education working as a in class volunteer as work-study. This course requires 45 hours of in class child supervision, as well as dcf certification, cpr, and child nutrition safe serve. I have babysat for free for family members and friends of family since I was 9. I have over 9 nephews and 2 nieces, the eldest of nephews is 18 and the youngest of nephews is 2, which I currently care for occasionally. My youngest niece is also 2, whom I provide care for while her mother works.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy creating age appropriate activities for toddlers that develop cognitive and sensory skills such as arts and crafts that include clay, paint, paper, and activities involving safe foods. I never leave the home of parents during supervision so outdoor activities may include investigating nature in the front or back yards, building out of cardboard, bubbles, ball playing, chalk, or learning about weather in fun ways.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to me about being a nanny is that the child is comfortable in their own home with me, and that they are safe, and closely supervised. What is most important is knowing that they have the support of a committed nanny when their parents are too busy at work to help them develop the ability to communicate emotionally, verbally, and physically.
