The most important part about being a nanny...

Building a connection with the family and children is so important because if they don’t feel comfortable or think they can’t talk to you, it can really impact everyone’s enjoyment. I like to take the time to meet with them, understanding that each person is unique and has their own preferences. Starting off on the right foot is crucial—it's much better to create a welcoming environment than to push anyone into a situation they’re not ready for.

My experience with special needs children...

I used to take care of my cousin, who has autism and other learning abilities. For three years , I also nannied for a beautiful girl with down syndrome. She was such a fun and amazing person who never let anything change her upbeat personality. I absolutely loved all the time we spent together and the things we learned from each other.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I used to care for a little boy who had little interest in school and hated going. I discovered that his teacher wasn’t explaining math in a way he could understand. So, we started doing his homework together, and I realized he was really smart—he knew all the answers before I could finish my sentence. I was shocked! As soon as I began using cars and toys to explain basic arithmetic, he instantly grasped the concepts. He became so excited to return to school and show his friends the tricks of "magic nines."
