More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Over the last 10 years, I’ve babysat for a variety of families — including relatives — and have supported children in both home and medical settings. I’ve worked in hospital caregiving roles where I cared for young patients, including time spent in pediatric units. I also volunteered overseas in Africa, where I helped care for children in a pediatric burn unit and participated in public health outreach programs focused on family and child wellness.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting creative and active with kids, depending on their age and interests! Indoors, I enjoy doing arts and crafts, building forts, reading books together, playing pretend, or coming up with fun learning games. Outdoors, I’m all about nature walks, playing tag, going to the park, scavenger hunts, or sidewalk chalk art. I try to keep things fun, engaging, and screen-free whenever possible!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is creating a space where children feel safe, seen, and supported — emotionally, physically, and developmentally. It’s not just about watching kids; it’s about showing up with presence, consistency, and care that actually helps shape who they’re becoming. I take that responsibility seriously. I know the trust families place in a nanny runs deep, and I strive to be someone both parents and children can rely on — someone who brings calm when things get chaotic, creativity when things get dull, and genuine care every single day.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve provided one-on-one care for a family member with non-verbal Autism Spectrum Disorder and non-ambulatory Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy since he was 3 years old (he’s now 16). My role has included hands-on caregiving, assistance with daily living tasks, mobility support, and communication needs. I’ve also been actively involved in his cognitive development through tutoring and learning activities, and regularly participated in his after-school sessions with professional educators and therapists. This long-term experience has given me deep empathy, strong problem-solving skills, and a clear understanding of how to support children with complex medical and developmental needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my most memorable moments was when a non-verbal child I care for, who has autism, surprised me during a tutoring session around the age of 9. We were working on sight words using letters from the alphabet when he suddenly began spelling words on his own — a clear sign that he could read. It was such an emotional and exciting discovery for both me and his family. From that point on, we created a new learning plan focused on spelling and communication, and watching him grow in confidence has been incredibly rewarding. It’s a moment I’ll always carry with me. He’s come such a long way since then, and I’m truly proud to have shared that breakthrough with him.
