I am currently employed at the Lynn YMCA in the Out of School Time (OST) program, where I care for children ages 4 to 7. During the school year, I work with them from the time they are dismissed from school until 5:30 p.m., and over the summer, I provide full-day care from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Through my role, I have developed skills in accommodating children’s needs in a gentle and supportive manner, guiding them through their big emotions, and introducing new concepts through engaging and enjoyable activities. I also focus on keeping children motivated with their schoolwork, encouraging perseverance, and fostering a positive sense of self-confidence.

I also have experience working with children who have autism, which has given me a meaningful and positive new perspective on the world. I have learned that autistic children often have specific interests, and I make it a priority to incorporate those interests into our daily activities to help them feel happy, included, and engaged.

I recognize the importance of being aware of their preferences—such as the foods they enjoy or dislike—and remaining mindful of potential triggers, such as loud noises.
