If you think about it, a nanny has the safety of another human being in their hands. That is A LOT of responsibility, which I take very seriously.
My experience with special needs children...
While I have very little experience with special needs children, I have been told that I have A LOT of patience with children, and I am open to trying to care for a special needs child. I have cared for difficult children and a psychologically abused/troubled child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When I worked as a live-in nanny and one of the boys said, "You're the best nanny we ever had." It melted my heart.
Another is a work moment... when I worked in a grammar school library, one girl who frequented the library almost daily came up to me (while the long-time librarian was right behind me). She gave me a big hug and said exuberantly, "You're the best librarian we've ever had!" It was a bit embarrassing to see the look on the head librarian!
