My experience with special needs children...
I worked as an Instructional Aide at a middle school for IUSD. There, I worked with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. We focused class time on reading comprehension, math, and communication. Outside of the class, we worked on life skills (walking across the street carefully, paying for food at a local market, communicating needs with a store clerk).
