In the the summers, I work as a State Beach Lifeguard, where I’m responsible for the safety of large groups both on land and in the water. This job requires a lot of responsibility, alertness, and decision-making, along with staying calm in high-stress situations. The training I received for this position included 70% EMT-level skills, such as CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and emergency first aid.
While working as a lifeguard, I’ve also been a Junior Lifeguard Instructor, teaching kids of all ages how to navigate currents, develop leadership skills, and learn what it takes to become a state lifeguard. Before that, during my sophomore and junior years of high school, I worked as a swim instructor for all ages, teaching basic swimming techniques and water safety, with a focus on infant water safety. Working with kids has always come natural to me growing up in the middle of 5 siblings watching my 2 little siblings was a very often thing for me . It’s something I enjoy and strive best
