I am working as a substitute teacher in Jefferson County currently. I have worked as a camp counselor for two years at SpringHill Camps, have experience in a preschool working with ages 1-4, and have 4 years of college in the education field.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I firmly believe in play-based learning! Activities that aid in development of fine-motor skills, critical thinking, etc. are essential. I also love art and music, and I think that allowing kids to have creative expression is so rewarding! I'd love to plan fun summer activities, whether that be at home or out in the community.
My experience with special needs children...
The camp that I was previously employed with had an excellent inclusion program! This allowed me to interact with children with special needs on a regular basis. I was also an inclusion counselor for a week, and was able to work one-on-one with a young girl with down syndrome. Substitute teaching has also given me experience with children in need of accommodations and receiving individualized lesson plans.
