I have done volunteer work at elementary schools such as helping with classroom parties and activities. I have also worked with organizations like the Department of Human Services to provide holiday experiences to children and families in need so I got to meet and spend time with lots of children.

Some activities I enjoy doing with children include arts and crafts, building forts, dance parties, and fun outdoor games like tag! I also like to create my own sort of lesson plans or activities to build on the child’s imagination, learning abilities, fine motor skills, etc.

I believe the most important part of being a nanny is making sure the children are safe, taken care of, and having fun. Creating a secure but lively environment is important to me so that the child feels seen and supported.
My experience with special needs children...
While I don’t have much experience with special needs children I do have some. I have a family friend with a daughter with epilepsy and autism whom I used to babysit and help take care of at appointments. Also, in Highschool I was on the varsity cheerleading squads and my coaches were the special needs teachers so I used to help them with their students as well whether it was with things in the classroom or even lunch time.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment during one of my babysitting jobs was when a little boy and I had been sitting during his snack time telling knock knock jokes back and forth and one of his jokes made him laugh so hard I started laughing so hard at his laughter that my drink came out of my nose.
