More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a nanny for a 4-year-old boy while I was still attending high school. We had a great relationship, but sadly the job was short-lived. Previously, I worked as a behavioral technician in FL. I assisted children with autism acquire skills and reducing maladaptive behaviors through play-based therapy. Primarily, I worked with children aging from 4 to 10. That being said I am used to wiping bottoms and changing diapers. I am currently unemployed and actively searching, but I have a blast playing around with my 4-year-old cousins (a boy and a girl).
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing outdoor activities, such as playing tag, swinging, or just running around. I enjoy indoor activities as well, such as arts and crafts, dancing/singing, and playing video games/ board games.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important besides keeping the child safe is forming a relationship with them. In my previous job working with children with autism, building rapport was a huge factor. It was formed by doing what the child liked. Playing games, chasing them around, and talking to them about their interests were some of the ways I built a good relationship with the kids.
My experience with special needs children...
Before I moved to AZ in July, I was a registered behavioral technician. I worked alongside children with autism by helping them acquire skills and decreasing maladaptive behaviors with play-based therapy. I worked mostly with a 10-year-old girl, but I have worked with children ranging from 4 to 10 years old. I was very sad to leave them when I moved, but my co-workers sometimes facetime me to talk to the kids.
The most important part about being a nanny...
During one of the times I was babysitting; the boy I was looking after started to show me his extensive collection of toys. He went from every basket and bin of toys and told me who they were and what they did. I was very amused and impressed throughout the whole experience. I asked questions to stay engaged and played around with some of the toys as he was showing the others. I will never forget that moment because that was one of the moments I knew I wanted to work with children as a career.

Having been a pre-school & 1st Grade Teacher for a faith based school while my children attended, I am now a widow with an empty nest. My legal career was rewarding, but I now hope to return to teaching or childcare.

As far as babysitting goes I got my babysitting license at the age of 11 from Red Cross, and was CPR certified. I soon after began watching kids age 5 months- 9 years old. This was mostly while the parents did stuff around the house or ran short errands. At the age of 16, my babysitting career picked up a lot and I began doing a lot of consistent date night babysitting. This continued through high school. After my freshman year of college, I spent the summer (may-august) nannying two kids. They were 8 and 11 years old and I watched them from 8 am - 4 pm. I love kids and would love to nanny for you :)
