I spent three summers working as a camp counselor at Peterkin Camp & Conference Center, where I cared for and supervised children throughout the day in a fun, active camp environment. I worked with kids of different ages and personalities, helping with activities, meals, transitions, swimming, and daily routines. I also taught and supervised swimming, led activities like arts and crafts, music, and sports, and was responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for campers. My time at camp strengthened my ability to keep kids engaged, handle different situations calmly, and make sure every child feels included and cared for.

I think the most important part of being a nanny is making a child feel safe, loved, and truly cared for. I want to be someone they feel comfortable coming to, someone who makes them feel heard and supported, and someone they look forward to spending their days with. Being trusted with someone’s child is such a special responsibility, and I never take that for granted.

One of my favorite nanny memories was when the kids decided they wanted to put on an hour-long puppet show for their family. They invited everyone over and had me help them make the puppets, practice, and get everything ready. It was definitely chaotic, but seeing how excited and proud they were made it such a sweet memory.
