Hello! My name is Hannah and I am a 3rd-year nursing major at Minnesota State University, Mankato. I have experience working as a counselor at a day camp. There I gained experience leading kids from preschool to high school age in camp activities, such as archery, rock climbing, and team-building exercises. I also babysit occasionally throughout the year and work as a nursing assistant at Generations Child and Memory Care. I love being outdoors and staying active. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently babysit for a 3 year old girl in the Mankato area, and I grew up babysitting for neighbors and family friends. I spent a summer as a camp counselor for Northern Star Scouting, where I lead school aged children in camp activities. I also work occasionally at Generations Child and Memory Care as nursing assistant and I have the pleasure of facilitating inter-generational activities like crafts, baking, and playing music!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing anything outdoors! I’m a big fan of swimming, biking, going on walks, and pickleball. I also enjoy arts and crafts and board games! One of my favorite crafts is bracelet making!

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is safety. Nannies have the responsibility of creating a nurturing environment for kids to grow while also having fun. It is important to ensure the health of the kids are taken care of by being a safe space for kids to open up and maintaining their physical safety. All in all, being there to tend to the needs of the children is what I think nannying is all about.

My experience with special needs children...

As a camp counselor at North Star Scouting I frequently worked with special needs groups. I led school aged children in educational and camp activities, helping participants gain their confidence and push past their comfort zone.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments working in child care was helping a camper achieve their goal in finishing a rock climbing route. The camper told me he had made the goal to climb to the top of the wall a year before, but never made it past the halfway point. To give him a good start I worked with the camper to pick a beginner route and pointed out a few good hand holds. After the first few attempts he became discouraged and almost gave up altogether. I knew that he was so close to accomplishing his dream, so I decided to give him a pep talk and more one-on-one attention. On his final attempt I and the other people in his group were all cheering him on. When the camper reached the top we had a huge celebration. The camper told me how happy he was to have completed his goal and that he was excited to come back and work on an even harder route next time. Helping my camper achieve his dream was a very proud moment for me, and I loved being apart of such a special memory.
