I was an after school teacher for the ISD728 school district for several years, as well as freelance babysitter for a couple different families (some with 4 children of different age groups ranging from 0 to 13).

I love to color and run around/play, and have movie nights with the kids. All around I enjoy engaging with them and creating trust.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing that I have found being a nanny is that we have to be open to learning from the kids because they not only learn from us but we also learn from them. They should be able to trust and enjoy your company and should want to be around you.
My experience with special needs children...
As an LPN I have basic knowledge of special needs and am willing to learn more! I have cared for a very amazing little boy before in an after school program a few years ago. This child specifically had autism and was very smart kind and loving. I think he was able to create more of an impact on my life than I did on him because he taught me many things. I believe that we as adults do not know everything and that kids can teach us things we did not think to learn. We can learn as much from them as they can from us.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There are so many moments I enjoyed while nannying in the past, but I specifically loved having dance/singing parties with two sisters from a family I cared for long term. I love creating new memories that they will remember and can keep. My favorite part has always been hearing the little giggles and laughter.
