I have a deep understanding of and experience with children who have special needs, particularly autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as I have an older brother on the spectrum. Over the years, I’ve learned how to support and regulate him in various situations, which has given me firsthand experience in patience, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. My favorite nanny moment was when I turned a meltdown into a memorable day!
I had a little girl I used to babysit who loved playing with a favorite toy. One day, she accidentally ripped it, and it sent her into a full meltdown. But since I always keep a sewing kit on hand, I quickly fixed the toy right in front of her. Her face lit up with joy, and we spent the rest of the day playing, laughing, and creating new memories together. It was a reminder of how small gestures can make a big difference in a child’s day!
