A little bit about me

My name is Heidi and I am looking for a full time summer nannying position! I am from Michigan, and have been a full time summer nanny for 5 years. I am looking to branch out to the Chattanooga area, because I plan to move there after I finish college (I am finishing my sophomore year currently). I am pursing a BA in Child Psychology as well as a BA in Creativity and Innovation. I have a very strong passion for children and look forward to an opportunity to expand my skills and expertise in the field!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been doing side babysitting jobs since I was 13 years old. I also have working in my church's nursery since I turned 13 as well. I have worked yearly with different church camps/vacation bible school with large groups of children (ranging in ages). I also am currently doing a practicum at a local school in my area. My time is split between a conjoined middle high school serving in the counseling office, and then the elementary school with their behavioral specialist.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I specialize myself in being creative and always coming up with fun ways to play with children that I work with. Some of my all time favorite things to do is explore different parks, lots and lots of bubbles, legos, anything with water (splash pads, back yard slip and slides, water guns, water balloons, etc), trying new ice cream places, playing in the yard, and many other things!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Caring for someone else's children is not something I take lightly, and I see it as such a pleasure and big responsibility. I want to always do my very best to encourage and guide the children in the best way that their parents would want me to. I also want to be the caregiver who builds relationships with the family. The connections I make with the children is so unique and so special, but I also want to have a great relationship with the parents as well! If I can provide a sense of security, where the parents feel confident in the care of their children, and then the children can feel comfortable, happy, and taken care of as well, then I have done my job.

My experience with special needs children...

I have not had a huge amount of experience with special needs children. I am working to expand my experience a bit more, but every exposure I have had has been more from a sideline point of view. The practicum I am working in right now we do have a student with autism as well as some significant cognitive impairments, however I have yet to have a lot of individual interaction with him.
