A little bit about me

My name is Hope Juhnke! I’m a seventeen year old who loves volunteering at VBS events and babysitting. I’m an avid reader, writer, and artist. I was the first ever sophomore chief newspaper editor at my school. My daily hobby is watching a movie a day. I spend a lot of time with my grandparents and love driving them around. I’m an AP student who is also dual enrolled in college for extra credit hours. Conservation science and zoology are my passion so I spend a lot of time at the zoo, bringing my friends along so they can understand my excitement as well. I have a lot of freetime as I do not participate in sports, a personal decision since I played sports through middle school.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve babysat over 40 kids. Every summer I am a group leader for kindergarten through second grade kids, with two fifth grade helpers I am in charge of as well.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing anything the kids want to do. I try to bring an arts and craft that is curated to the kid(s) interests, age, and are easy to clean up. I will do anything from swimming, playing games outside, staying indoors, etc. As long as it is safe, okay with the parents, and is within the available resources I do not mind having fun!

My experience with special needs children...

I have been the on call babysitter off and on for my aunt and uncle for about six years. Their kids are six, four, and one. The middle child, who is now deceased, had a rare genetic disorder called Cornelia de Lange syndrome. She had a feeding tube, oxygen tank, and a few other machines that constantly measured her health. I babysat and cared for her as an infant, so whilst I do not have a massive range of experience changing the actual medical equipment as they had a live in nurse, but I was very aware of how to care for her and be careful of her medical disabilities. I also am friends with a fifteen year old high schooler with down syndrome and love to spend time with him and laugh, as many of the kids my freshmen year would not let him play with them in PE. I would sit out during PE and play basketball with him.
