More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a preschool teacher at a nature school for 3 years, primarily working with kids ages 2-6. In the afternoons I was by myself with 5 children and was responsible for overseeing lunch and snack time, supporting children through rest-time, and creating age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.
I have also worked as a registered behavior technician for 6 months, primarily working with ages 3-7 and with a diagnosis of autism. Responsibilities included providing 1:1 care through behavior management, teaching skills in accordance with programs created by BCBA, and data collection. Both jobs taught me that all behavior is a way to communicate something and it is my job to figure out what the child is trying to communicate and to fulfill their needs!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
For indoor activities, I love doing anything fun and open ended. I conducted various arts and crafts projects using a variety of materials, some revolved around seasonal events such as Halloween or the changed of seasons themselves. I also threw many bubble wrap dance parties where I taped sheets of leftover bubble wrap together to make a dancefloor for the children!
For outdoor activities it is all about creativity, imagination, and science. Sometimes it's a simple as going on a nature walk or encouraging imaginative play through the materials mother nature provides us. Other times I enjoyed creating more structured outdoor play by setting up mini field day events or creating an art project based off a book we were reading in class.

The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part of being a nanny is creating secure relationships with the children in my care!
My experience with special needs children...
As a registered behavior technician I have experience working with children who have an autism diagnosis. Through the best buddies program and girl scouts, I gained experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with autism, down syndrome, developmental delays, and physical impairments.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite recent nanny moment was when one of the older children I work with challenged me to a drawing competition! He decided that I won and even insisted on drawing me a certificate to prove I had won the competition! It was a super fun and sweet bonding moment initiated by the child which made it all the more special!
