My experience with special needs children...

I have had only two autistic children in my care, one of whom was prone to violent stems. While my experience with special needs children is limited now, I believe that my compassion and empathy, along with thorough communication with the parent(s) or guardian(s), will allow me to give the proper care to a very specially abled child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One sunny afternoon, when I worked as a live-in-nanny, I found myself engaged in a hilarious impromptu dance-off with the little one I was looking after. We were tidying up the playroom, and a catchy tune played next as the child was watching youtube on the television. Before I knew it, my young charge started grooving to the rhythm, pulling me into the dance frenzy. We were busting out moves that only our wild imaginations could concoct, flailing arms, and doing spins that left us both giggling uncontrollably. The best part was when the family dog joined in, wiggling its tail as if it was part of the dance crew too! We danced like no one was watching, and for that joyous moment, all worries melted away, leaving us with priceless memories and laughter that echoed through the house. From that day forward, every time that song played, we'd have an encore of our special dance-off, proving that being a nanny meant embracing the silliness and having the time of our lives together!
