A little bit about me

I am a stay at home mom of a fun and energetic 2yr old daughter. I love cooking and decorating cakes. I have ample unpaid experience babysitting cousins newborn to 9 yrs old. I am a former teacher's assistant at Mary Cariola, & volunteered at Arc of Monroe. I am working on CPR/1st aid cert. I like doing homemade projects with kids, finding out fun ways kids like to learn. I help elementary age kids study for tests and make it funny and memorable. I am actively attentive and caring for newborns and infants. I have a super soft spot for babies and I can not get enough of them! I like to instill good values, manners and good decision making skills in children. I love for children to be comfortable being themselves by respectfully expressing. Infants and toddlers have a great time with me. I often incorporate singing learning and movement activities to stay active. I am not really huge on being stuck in tv or tablets/phones. I open my home and welcome you and your little ones.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Hide and seek, homemade projects, arts and crafts, singing, exercise. Learning by coloring pictures, Abcs, 123s, board games, uno, go fish. Go outside, kick ball, bubbles fun, water splash and play, learning about new things, fun facts, science projects, taking walks.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for special needs children age 9 to 15 yrs old. I worked at Mary Cariola. I worked with children with mobility issues, my wheel chair students (I call them my monster truck drivers) incontinence, hearing and speech disabilities, developmental disabilities. I entailed feeding, changing soiled clothes, helping some with walking and gym activities, learning to read, write, communicate using sensory toys and photos or other objects of interest. Treating and interacting with them like ordinary amazing kids. I talk junk to my students and tease them sometimes too. Keeps them sharp, playful, capable and not feeling sorry for themselves. The verbal student, It prepares them to handle bullies in a smart and clever and firm way. The non verbal students give me faces, smiles, or frowns or even hand gestures and the side eye. It is hilarious and joyful for us. This is the most rewarding job I ever had.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was babysitting my cousin who was 3 years old and he was reading or more like reciting a book we had been practicing reading daily and he was imitating me and how I read the story to him and also quizzing me on it. It was so great to see him interested in the book and able to comprehend and retell the story so well. It help me realize how important it is to have patience and teach a child in fun ways so that they can retain it and enjoy learning more. It was so funny how he imitated me too a T, of course he added his own attitude and personality too it. Too funny. Touching nanny moment for sure.
