More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Even though I have my college degree from Spring Arbor University in Communications, most of my adult life has centered around kids. I have raised my own three children with my husband of 19 years. They are now 14, 15, and almost 16. I worked as a Nanny for several years before having children of my own, then I was a stay-at-home mom, and have returned back to Nanny work now that my kids are teenagers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I adjust to each child, based on their personality and preferences. But in general I would describe myself as upbeat, playful, and engaging with children. I love to get outside to play and go for walks, and I enjoy taking children on outings.
I am not big on screens, so I will not be locked on my phone, and I would not use TV or tablets to "babysit" the kids. My own children in high school just received their first phones, and were the last ones of all of their friends.
Imaginative play and silliness come quite naturally to me when I am with kids. I also sing and play the piano, so I enjoy doing musical activities with little ones.
I have a lot of experience interacting with babies and toddlers in a way that encourages their emotional well-being and age appropriate development. We will often read books, play games, learn new activities, create things together, etc. I also have a lot of experience with various forms of sleep schedules and feeding techniques.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I don't tend to think of myself as a babysitter, but rather an extension of the family. Meaningful connections are very important to me, and I invest my time, energy, and heart in the precious little kids that I have the opportunity to care for and watch grow up.
I see myself as a support role, coming alongside the parents in whatever ways are most helpful in that particular family. I want to do the little things to help share the load and make things a little easier on parents during the very busy stage of having babies and toddlers.
I value clear and open communication, and will show a lot of respect and consideration for how a family likes to do things in their own home, and their views on raising a child. I like to talk about those things up front to make sure we are a good fit for each other. I bring a lot of experience to the mix, and I am happy to offer suggestions or brainstorm creative solutions with parents.

My experience with special needs children...
Two of my children are biological, and my other 15-year-old daughter was adopted from foster care when she was 9. She has intellectual disabilities, some medical conditions, and struggles to make close friends. I understand a lot about neurodivergent children.
I have also cared for infant twins with partial hearing loss.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I have a very special memory with a family that I spent 3 years with as a Nanny, watching their little girl since she was a baby. We will call her S. I had been out of town for a couple weeks and when I showed up at her house for work after that, she came running up to me and put her little hand on my cheek and smiled so big and said, "I missed you Jack Jack!" (What she had nicknamed me as of that moment lol) 🥰

Full-Time Nanny Available in Brighton, MI: Julia N.
Hi my name is Julia! I’m a 14 year old looking for a babysitting job. I’ve been working with my church for about 8 months now, I help with kids from 0-8 and this includes special needs children. Over the last 8 months I’ve grown a strong bond with the kids, we regularly do crafts, go outside, have reading time, and will learn. I’m always very patient with kids, Its very important to me that kids have a good experience with people older than them at a young age so that when there older they aren’t scared to talk to adults.I believe when working with children you need to have good communication skills so you can understand how they are feeling, I have always done my best with listening And talking. I’m always very upbeat with kids, if a child is crying I will do anything in my power to make them feel comfortable and safe with me. My goal at the end of the day is to make sure your kids are having a good time and learning things to make them be the best version of themselves.
