A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Jackie and I have been working with children for a while now. I just graduated from CSULB with a bachelor in child development and family studies. I started my journey working with children at the YMCA in los altos, and am still there till this day. I have really enjoyed my time there, but am searching for something different. I started off at the YMCA with afterschool childcare. I then moved to TK support and worked within a school in Long Beach. For the most previous year at the YMCA I was a Site Director for another school in Long Beach. Each year has been something different, and what really makes all these jobs amazing are the children. One of my favorite things to do with the children are different crafts/activities, and even when I have a hard day at work the children are always there to light up my day. Besides my work life, I love working out. Going to the gym and moving my body has been something I have enjoyed doing since high school.

More About Me

As I stated previously, I work with the YMCA. I have been working with the YMCA for about 3 years now. I started with afterschool childcare, then moved to doing TK (transitional kindergarten) support, and then became a site director for one of the before and afterschool childcare sites within the YMCA. With being a director, I was in charge of the whole before and afterschool childcare program at the school I worked at. I created fun crafts/activities for the children to participate in everyday after school. There was always something different for the children to engage in if they wanted to. I also would engage with them during outside time. We would always play fun outdoor games with each other. Overall, my experience working at the YMCA has been amazing and really helped me learn a lot about children and how to work with them.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing lots of different activities with children. I love painting, coloring, finding fun craft ideas on pinterest. I also love finding fun stem activities to do with the children. Throughout my year being a Site Director, I made chapstick, diy bouncy balls, paper mache, slime, diy aprons, and lots of another fun activities. As for outdoor games, I love playing soccer, four corners, obstacle courses, and any other game the children want to play. Another fun activity I enjoy doing is having some water activities, especially on some of the hot days we have been experiencing. Doing water days with the children is always so fun and they absolutely love participating.
