Hi, My name is Maya. I've been working with kids for just over 4 years, ranging from day care, summer camp, and nannying. I've worked with children ages 6 months - 14 years old. I prefer to focus on smaller groups of 1-4 children, however I have experience teaching groups of 30. I am passionate about teaching and creating activities that get kids excited to learn. I am an artist and believe it is important to give kids the opportunity to express themselves creatively. My goal is to help create happy productive children by being a positive and supportive role model in their lives, and to help them live up to their full potential. I recently moved here from Seattle and was heartbroken to leave the family I had been with. I worked with them for over a year and half and really felt like a member of the family. The Seattle gloom and gray finally won, so here I am! Some of my favourite activities include: Theater, Singing, Acting, Dancing, Arts and Crafts, Puppet Shows, Reading, Writing, Story Telling, Costuming, Sewing, Ukulele, Guitar, Some Piano, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Swimming, Face Painting I also provide: Cooking/Meal Preparation, Basic Errands, Laundry, Grocery Shopping, Light Housekeeping, Help with homework. I am American Red Cross CPR/ First Aid Certified for Adult, Child, and Infant and have a Valid Driver's License. Thank you, Maya

I am the eldest of 3 girls and grew up babysitting my sisters quite often as a kid. I have also on a fairly consistent basis worked in the nursery or Sunday school classes at church over the past 8 or 9 years. Working in the nursery and Sunday school has provided other opportunities to babysit as well as nanny for family friends. I did work with a young girl for about a year that had some disabilities and she was an absolute joy to be around and taught me patience like no other. :-) I would help her dress, eat, take her medication, and made sure she got on the bus on time every morning from 6-9. About 2 years ago, I nannied for some family friends with 2 boys (10 and 13). I made sure they did their chores, got homework done, drove them to practices, and made sure they had fun. We played a lot of football, basketball, and ping pong outside during the summer or after school. I just recently helped out a close friend of mine who suffers from bipolar disorder and postpartum depression. I have been helping her take care of her daughter who is now 7 months old; I helped feed, bathe, attend doctors appointments, etc. Any more questions, please feel free to call or email me.

My ten years of working with children ages two months to 17 years have given me a diverse array of experiences in meeting children’s individual needs. I have been a full time live-in nanny, consistent babysitter for multiple families, and a Youth Care Worker for children living in a temporary shelter. With an impeccable driving record and CPR/First Aid certifications, I will ensure the safety of your children. I am a very enthusiastic, high-energy, compassionate, organized, and responsible individual who will respect and support all parental rules and expectations of their children. In attaining my Bachelor’s degree, I took courses in early childhood development and gained extensive knowledge of child behavior and psychology. As the former First Aid Personnel and Camp Counselor and as a Youth Care Worker, I am trained to be very safety conscious and am excellent at handling emergency situations. I am warm, loving, and energetic and love making kids laugh.

I have 3 younger siblings, the youngest of which is 11 years my junior so I have extensive knowledge and experience with changing diapers, making bottles, and calming crying as well as babysitting children of all ages. I also worked as a nanny for a 4-year-old little boy during September 2012 which included playing with him for most of the day, making meals, giving baths, and putting him to bed while his parents were out. I'm currently taking a semester off from getting my degree in Child Development to gain more nannying experience. In high school, I took a class called "Exploratory Teaching" where the first semester focused on showing us how elementary teachers connect with children, how to make a lesson plan, and other similar knowledge. In the second semester, we went to the local elementary school every day to volunteer with Kindergarteners and first-graders - helping them learn how to read, finish homework packets, and even arts and crafts activities.
