Movies, coloring, reading and writing, letting them help me cook easy meals, dancing to music, playing outside at the park or going on a walk through nature preserves, drawing with chalk, and accommodating to what they want to do within safety precautions!
My experience with special needs children...
I have not cared for special needs children but I have cared for an adult male with cerebral palsy for over a year now and am well adjusted to routines, physical and mental disabilities such as but not limited to; lack of mobility, trouble with verbal communication, braces or special boots to be worn for safety measures, and making physical therapy fun! I also have worked with an adult male who is a paraplegic for over a year as well. Working in the healthcare field has taught me patience, kindness, and compassion. I love to encourage independence as far as I am able to because it is very important for children and adults to feel that.
