A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Jae! I’m 21, originally from Oklahoma but I’ve called Texas home since 2020. I’m a creative soul who loves spending time in my craft room, whether that’s making something new or coming up with fun projects for kids. Right now, I’m a lead toddler teacher at Primrose, and while I’ve loved the classroom experience, I’m looking for something more one-on-one where I can connect more personally with children and families.

Outside of work, crafting is truly my happy place! I’m always working on something creative, whether it’s quilting, sewing, painting nails, or experimenting with new projects. I usually have a handful of crafts going at once in my craft room, and I love getting my hands messy and seeing ideas come to life. Along with crafting, I enjoy exploring new places, playing video and board games, and really enjoy a good book or movie. Creativity is a big part of who I am, and I try to bring that same energy into everything I do.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve always loved working with kids! While younger, I babysat often and volunteered at a family-owned daycare during the summers, caring for children from 6 months to 7 years and helping with field trips. During COVID, I also worked as a tutor, supporting elementary students with their virtual learning. After graduating high school, I became a nanny for a year, caring for children, handling school pick-ups, and planning fun outings and activities. I later transitioned into teaching and am now a lead toddler teacher at Primrose Schools, gaining valuable classroom experience with both younger and older toddlers. I also currently work on weekends as a mother’s helper for one family, supporting them with both childcare and household tasks. While I love the classroom, I’m now looking for something more one-on-one where I can connect more personally with children and families.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When it comes to indoor activities, crafting with the kiddos is hands-down my favorite. I love being creative, and you can pretty much always find me setting up something crafty! Whether it’s painting, cutting, gluing, or building little projects together. It’s such a fun and interactive way to keep children engaged, learning, and expressing themselves. I’m also a big fan of reading stories and even sharing my love of video games in a kid-friendly way. For outdoor fun, I especially love trips to the park or anything with water during the hotter months! it’s the perfect way to burn energy and make great memories!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is making a real connection with the kids. Of course I’m there to care for them, but building that bond is what matters most. I was a daycare kid growing up, and the thing that stuck with me was the connection I had with my teachers. They felt like family to me, and I still keep in touch with some of them even now. That’s the kind of impact I want to have on the kids I care for.

My experience with special needs children...

One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had was caring for a child with Down Syndrome. When we were both in daycare, I naturally took on a caregiver role with her and built a close bond. As I got older and began babysitting, I continued caring for her, which gave me early experience in providing patient, attentive, and individualized care. That experience really shaped my love for working with children and taught me how important it is to meet every child’s unique needs with kindness and creativity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moments are always the little ones that remind me why I love what I do laughing and joking around with the kiddos, sharing inside jokes, and hearing their giggles. But nothing beats the moments when they look at me with a big smile and say, “I love you.” Those words mean everything to me and make all the hard work so worth it. It’s such a special feeling to know I’m making a positive impact in their lives and that they feel safe, happy, and cared for with me! <3
