My oldest child Charity had febrile seizures. Fresh out of medical school, I knew just enough to be scared. Leading my family through that first significant health crisis was our first lesson as a family in trusting God. I remember so nights when she was sick, kneeling with my wife over her crib and praying for her as she fought off a fever, praying that she wouldn’t seize. We are limited in our capacity as human beings to keep our children healthy and strong, and where our limitation begins, there we must fall through our knees and trust God, and accept whatever we cannot control with courage and calmness.
