Hi! I’m Jamie! I began working with children in 2019 as a substitute preschool teacher for the local public school system! I’ve worked at Heartworks preschool where I learned much of what I know today. I’ve taken college courses for childcare and early childhood education, and I would love to work with a family! I’m an artist, I am learning French, and I am learning the ukelele right now. I love being outdoors and I am a huge foodie. I love to prep, create, and eat delicious food - especially when I can share them with my small friends! I am the type to go above and beyond when you need and even when you don’t, I love developing relationships with children that allow me to not only guide them but teach them and encourage them to teach me as as !

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a substitute preschool teacher for my local school district, moved onto being a para educator for a fifth grade classroom, then when the school year ended I went to Heartworks preschool where I was an Assistant Teacher for children ages 3mos-5yrs. I have six nephews and two nieces that I have spent my life watching quite frequently!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts (painting, chalk, drawing, sculpting), creating music, nature walks (sometimes I create a list of things to look for and point out like plants, different bugs, a cloud shape, a rainbow), reading books, singing songs, dancing, exploring food (trying new snacks, learning different food groups - it’s science!)

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is taking care of the children holistically, which sometimes means caring for the family as well. A less stressed family will result in a happier child and their health and happiness are my main priorities as a nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve worked with children with Cerebral Palsy, severe bi-polar disorder, autism, Down syndrome, and I have worked with children who have experienced many traumas and carry it with them leading to many mental illnesses/behavioral conflicts

The most important part about being a nanny...

Nap time is always my favorite time. Not because the children are sleeping, but because I think it’s a special moment for a caregiver and child to bond. It’s quiet, it’s cozy, and I always cherish the moment I’m reading a book or holding a hand or singing a song to a child I’ve created a bond with and watching their little eyes flutter shut.
