Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing anything artistic or creative with kids. Sensory bins are a fan favorite of mine. I am also big on the outdoors. Going on walks, swimming (if you're comfortable with that), fishing, etc. I am a huge reader and believe it is important to read to kids, or have them learn to read if they are old enough. As part of my creativity, I love to bake, which I find that kids love to do. Especially when it comes to decorating cupcakes, cookies, etc.
My experience with special needs children...
I cared for one child that was nonverbal and had some disabilities due to her brain not developing properly. I had to assist her with dressing, brushing teeth and hair, as well as hygiene and using the bathroom. While she couldn't speak, she could make sounds and was an absolute joy to be around. I cared for her from the time she was 9, up until she turned 13. Additionally, my previous job of 3 years was with a school district as a CNA, where I cared for special needs kids with medical disabilities.
