My experience with special needs children...
My baby sister had epilepsy and autism. In my ECE class we talked about special needs kids for a school quarter. I’ve had foster siblings that were in need of special care. I volunteered at my uncles church where they also teach children and there was a high on the spectrum autistic child who was having a hard day and i was able to give him the space he needed and help him when he was ready for me to, i brought out toys for him and he seemed to enjoy them and was able to calm down safely.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was babysitting this one 7 year old boy who seemed to have some anger issues, one night he slammed the fridge door closed and the shelves came off and made a bit of a mess, he started freaking out so before doing anything with the fridge i went to talk to him and make sure he was okay. I told him that things like this happen and that it was okay, we’ll work on big emotions like this together. He helped me fix the fridge and then we went to play a game that makes him happy.
