A little bit about me

I am a 19 year old second year college student. I will be living in Hastings, NE, for the summer time (May-late August). I am also back for breaks and most weekends. I currently work for CEDARS and ECDC of Lincoln. I have at least 7 years of babysitting friends and family. Next August it’ll be the start of my 3rd year working with children at the non-profit organizations. I have experience working with troubled children, trauma informed children, children with special needs, infants and up to the ages of 16, etc. I’m trained to work and look after a 1:15 ratio, keeping multiple children entertained and safe is where I excel! I love children, each day I look forward to seeing the smiles and hearing all the nonsense that makes them, them. I’d love to work with a family who will trust me to love their children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have 5 younger siblings, have babysit them since I can remember. I work for an early childhood development center; I currently do
elementary ages afterschool child care program and infant care.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am a big outdoors girl! I prefer children to have as minimal screen time as possible.. I am a big fisher and would love to teach a child how to fish. I love walks, chalk on the side walk, going to the park, swimming, picnics, all of it! On a rainy/colder day, I wouldn’t be opposed to a movie day. I also love to cook/bake, so allowing little ones to be and learn to be a cooking/baking helper would be super fun. I’m big into board games, puzzles, drawing and coloring. I encourage pretend play as I believe it sparks creativity and is very good for the brain.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a 4 year old sister who is non-verbal as well as on the spectrum. I understand that children with special needs do things at their pace and on their time. I also understand that these children require lots of patience and special care, which I am more than willing to do for them. I believe each child will excel in their own category and do not believe special needs holds anyone back.. they just need the extra help!
