I’m a college student at NIU, currently studying Human Development and Family Services hoping to be a child psychiatrist. I have nephews and nieces I have watched from hours to days and who have sparked my interest in studying HDFS. I have taken care of them since they were newborns to pre-teen. My experience with special needs children...

I have two nephews with autism whom are the most loving, amazing little boys ever. I have been with them their whole lives and babysat them on various occasions. I have attended appointments and therapies with them as well as have had classes on working with special needs children. This including activities to work on them with, how to help them learn, different types of special needs children, among other things. I am patient and nurturing and understanding of the stress this brings upon parents to find the right help for both themselves and their child.
