Safety is always my primary concern, but I find it equally important to make sure that the children in my care are also happy and having fun! I like to provide plenty of oportunitiesfor fun crafts, activities, and educational oportuinities. My goal is for the kids to run to their parents at the end of the day, excited to share all the fun things they did that day!
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with several children with special needs for years and have the most experience working with children with ADHD and autism. I love finding ways to work with the kids as individauls to find what works best for them to make each day a good one.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moments working with kids is when we work together to cope with a challenging situation. Sometimes kids get overwhelmed with emotions, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help them process their emotions, use language to describe how they feel, and learn coping strategies for handling their emotions in a positive way. Some of my best moments with kids were the rainbows after the storms when a learning moment happened and they can smile as they learn from it and move on to better things.
