More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Over the years, I’ve done a lot of things with a focus on children the first one being a lifeguard and from the lifeguard moving into teaching swim lessons. In high school, I was a part of the special needs program as a student teacher aid. I’ve worked with children with special needs as a nanny as well, although I’m not college educated with a degree, I have a focus on children and have tutored and helped in many aspects. Working as a chef I’ve worked with children doing pizza classes and with my mom who is an artist to do finger painting for children and working with clay.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love the arts and crafts and believe that creativity help stimulate the mind and get us out of our heads and into our bodies. I noticed children when distracted or dealing with ADD do very well with creative tasks. I love to do clay or papier-mâché, paint by number any creative activity really. I am also an artist I do music I play piano and guitar. I love bringing music into my work with children as well as being a chef. I also love to bring Food into a creative realm with kids. I’ve had past experiences with having them help with dinner, and they felt super important and also learned new skills teaching all of these hands on activities to children also helps and inspires them to do things for themselves as well as participate in the household. One of my other skills is organization, and I love showing kids how to organize their stuff. It helps them feel like they’re in control and also motivated to be more cleanly.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is allowing yourself to understand the position you are in. That you have the responsibility of the most precious thing that matters to each of these parents and holding that in high regard. You recognizing that each child deserves the best care and attention that one could give. I feel honored to share in parenting and caregiving when a parent is unable to I know if I was ever in this position with needing outside of care for my child I would hope that I would find someone that understood the gravity of the situation. I do feel extremely blessed to be a part of so many different children’s lives and experiences. Often I leave feeling as if I’ve been impacted more than they have that being said I understand the huge responsibility to give a child the right set up so that they can march into the world successful. My experience with special needs children...

I have had a couple different experiences working with special needs children and adults. I was in a group in high school and in my church where we spent a lot of time with the special needs kids. From doing different arts and crafts to holding friendly PE activities. One of my first positions was with a 14 year old girl with down syndrome I was mostly after school care and dinner prep. I also had a live in position for an adult male with autism where I would get his meals ready. I would also drive him to various activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don’t know that I can pick one moment over the years of nannying. That is my favorite. All I know is that I’ve been deeply impacted by all of the children that I’ve had opportunity to be a part of their lives. One family that I lived with for two years, I took care of their 11-year-old daughter River. I became very close to the family and still in contact with them today. It was such a blessing to see River grow into a young woman to now graduating high school and starting college this year! One of my most challenging experiences was two twins, a boy, and a girl that I was living Nanny, for they were both the age of four years old. They were raised by a single father who was much older and had them through surrogacy. Both of them took different amounts of time to become used to me, they had a few different ppl before me which I understood eventually, I gain their trust and we became very close as well, I feel my experiences as a Nanny has been rewarding overall.
