"I’m very happy to write this reference for Jessi, who has been our nanny for the past two years. She joined our family when my child was an infant and has been an incredibly important part of our lives ever since.
Jessi is deeply engaged with our child and brings so much creativity and thoughtfulness to their days together. She is intentional about play, with a clear focus on development, while still keeping things fun and age-appropriate. It’s obvious how much care she puts into supporting learning, confidence, and emotional growth.
Most importantly, Jessi is incredibly loving. Our child feels safe, supported, and truly cared for in her presence, and the bond they’ve built means everything to us. Any family would be very lucky to have her."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Prior to this, I had been working with all ages of children on the autism spectrum. I trained to become a Registered Behavioral Technician (“RBT) and through ACES, a center of excellence in Santa Rosa, I worked with kids in multiple settings and in a variety of scenarios. (At home, at school, on field trips, social events, and family gatherings.). In this capacity, I taught children using ABA techniques, each with different needs and style of learning. Our focus is safety first.
10 years as a Paralegal….
Prior to the paralegal role, before moving to NYC and pursuing a different career path, I was a nanny for a family that began with only one child and grew to three!
It all began with an 8 month old girl. After 2 years of caring for her, they had a little boy. 2 years later, they had another little boy.
The most challenging point, I think, was nannying completely solo for a 2 week old, 2 year old, and 4 year old.
I stayed with them until I moved away. References available!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Anything except a tablet(!), games, arts & crafts, hide & seek, “floor is lava”, playing outside, scavenger hunts, READING, singing, dancing, make believe, dress up, and everything in between!
I can create more formal lesson plans for the bigger kids.
Field trips! I take my “littles” to the local library, nearby parks, the Sonoma County Children’s Science Museum, and even the Dollar Store; as these are great opportunities for socializing and learning.
I love making tangible things with my littles, as well. Things they can keep or use again or give as a gift to family and friends. Especially fun if you need something special (i.e. Mom’s birthday coming up, so Dad asks Nanny to create a card or a piece of artwork for him).

The most important part about being a nanny...
Keeping children active and happy and safe. I will also be using natural opportunities to promote education through playtime, linking the two, making it fun to learn.
My experience with special needs children...
During the pandemic, I chose to go back to school for early childhood education. I became a Registered Behavior Technician (”RBT”) in the State of California, which is required to work with children on the autism spectrum. With this education, I began working at ACES (a center of excellence for children on the spectrum) and was the primary RBT for upwards of 3 to 5 children. Through individual 4 hour sessions, I provided tailored care and tracked results in real-time. I worked six days a week and had the opportunity to work with many different children along the autism spectrum. Their ages ranged from 3 years to 15 years old.
My first month employed here, I was awarded employee of the month and voted the ‘most creative’ RBT.
My goal was to make the educational sessions fun. The best educators are those that entertain while they teach, so I leaned into that and it turned out my instincts were right! Through creativity and patience, the children excelled and improved, bit by bit.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments, actually happened more recently. I was working with a non-verbal autistic teenager on object identification. He would become bored easily, so I tried to make the song Old MacDonald Had A Farm a little bit more entertaining. I simply swapped animals with vehicles. For example, using a car, instead of a cow. When I made the ‘beep beep’ sound for the first time, my kid started laughing out loud. We giggled through the whole song. Laughter is a great form of communication! It was a breakthrough moment and one of my favorites.
