A little bit about me

I am a mother of 2 daughters Mariana (2y) and Maya (10mo) who woukd be attending work with me. Since a young age, I have been helping out with children of all ages from babysitting, caring for my siblings, volunteering in childrens programs and more recently jobs in childcare.

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some of the most valuable activities that I like to get kids involved with, are ones where they get to play with kids of a similar age. Activities that may be more hands of for me, but making sure they have a safe space to play and redirecting certain behaviors. These redirections sound something like " Hey I understand you would like to play with the ball right now. (Childs name) is also really looking foreword to playing with the ball right now. Can we come up with a game you would like to play together? If not we can find another fun activity while we wait for your turn to play with the ball in 5 minutes."

All though I really enjoy seeing the kids enjoy their time with other children, my favorite activities are more hands on. I enjoy creating arts and craft projects, teaching simple age appropriate recipes, and also being active playing games like Tag with the kids.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In my experience the most important factor in a successful childcare job, is a good understanding of expectations between parents and the caregiver.

I believe my job as a nanny is to be an extension of the the parents beliefs and desires for their child, as well as creating a safe environment for the child to continue their daily activities. My job should make it very easy for you to come home and transition with your regular routine.

I am not saying that I can't make any choices, such as "It looks its going to rain today, lets go to the indoor playground today." But my decisions should be based around the parents wishes. This could be something like I know that family prefers that I do not drive their kids in the rain if possible. I would understand what is important to them and make a decision along the lines of that. Something more like "It looks like it's going to rain today, lets stay inside and pretend we are on tv and tell the weather news."
