Not a lot of first-hand experience, but I am always looking for opportunities to learn more about how to best provide care for children with special needs or disabilities. My degree also included a lot of units/classes on Children with disabilities and how to find resources and provide accommodations for students in K-12 classrooms.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One time a kid I used to babysit for had recently gotten a new toy that came in plastic packaging. We were opening it up together and at a certain point she picked up a small piece of plastic and showed it to me and said, "Always remember this." She was I think 3 years old at the time. I still have never forgotten :)
