A little bit about me

Hello my name is Reverend Judith Edmonds here in Columbia South Carolina I have four kids of my own but I have raised 16 in my home on my own I took permanent custody of five of them and now they have children of their own that I also help care for over the years I'm retired from veterans administration I love kids they are our future and I'm here to help those that are trying to work like I did and and need that extra hand someone can be trusted to care for their child the way they would now I can't help it if they babies start loving me because I am truly a caring and loving person for the family as a whole God has truly been good to me and I'm always looking for a reason to share life and the fulfillment of it with others what better way than with the child.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I work with children with special needs , some I got paid for and some I did because the parent needed help God paid me for that, I race three children with special needs honorably one was mine and two I took permanent custody of my adopted grandson has cerebral palsy he cannot walk he cannot talk but he is just the best kid ever three of the children that I took custody of have ADHD awesome people they are graduating from high school now honors students I have been studying over the years about IEP's individual education programs for children in 504 for special need children in schools I have 35 years of experience as a IEP specialist I help parents with disabilities get their disability and their children's society is on a mission but so am I I know of many programs that can help our special need community and I will go on to Glory helping those very people

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like walks in the park watching them play on the swings and the slide interacting with throwing a ball I am a roller skater for the past 40 years I love to roller skate I know how to throw a frisbee lol kids love bubbles and they love to just run run I walk pretty fast but just the fact that they will be out there living a little best life I'll be with them

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to help those that need the love and support from someone else being able to help a single mom or dad that's trying to do their best to keep their family together being that shoulder to lean on and understanding what they're dealing with because I've been there and all I had was God and myself believe me this is most important

My experience with special needs children...

My adopted grandson has cerebral palsy I raised my son with ADHD and I took custody of three other ones with ADHD prepared IEPs 504s spoke with district directors for children with disabilities I currently work with families with disabilities they call me when they need IEPs read over helping them understand what stuff means giving them the clear view of how best to get their child what they need been doing this for 30 Plus it started with my own son who's now 37 went to DeVry University graduated top of his senior class lives in New York City went school there was able to teach himself to live comfortably and even to this day I'm still available to the parents that needs me for these type of situations they will never go away

The most important part about being a nanny...

The love that they share when I tell them I love them you're smart you can be what you want to be and they tell me thank you or I know that you mean it the love that babies give is so phenomenal I had one little girl and all she wanted to do is lay on my chest and her mom will always say get off of Miss Judith she wouldn't do it she just wanted to lay there and hear my heartbeat it was awesome and then the little boy that has cerebral palsy every time I was set him up because I will work with him the therapist taught me how and he doesn't want to sit up he wants to lay down and roll but I was determined to help him sit up straight he wasn't very happy with it but me and Mom laughing it off
